Commercial Auto Insurance
McCauley Agencies offers a competitive, flexible Commercial Auto Insurance Program that is tailor made to meet all your business’s requirements. With the wide variety of coverage options we have available to us we can help you design an insurance package that suits the exact needs of your individual business, large or small.
All Saskatchewan residents will have mandatory damage insurance on their licence plates. This basic limit, however, may not be enough if you or your employees spend a lot of time on the road. If you deliver merchandise to customers or travel to jobsites regularly, you’re at a higher risk of an accident.
SGI CANADA can help. Our commercial auto insurance policies can protect you and your business from the financial costs of a collision, whether you’re driving around your community or working out of town.
Start With The Basics
Basic damage coverage options
Our coverage options are designed to protect your commercial vehicle from different types of damage. Choose 1 or both for your policy.
Injury insurance coverage
All Saskatchewan residents get injury coverage if they’re injured or killed in an auto collision. The amount of coverage is based on whether No Fault or Tort coverage has been chosen. A commercial auto policy will increase the injury coverage provided by the licence plate insurance.
No-Fault Coverage
- Death benefits
This coverage will pay any extra amounts needed to bring the total benefit up to 50% of the deceased’s net income. It also pays the spouse an extra 5% (of the net income) for each dependent child. - Education allowance
Your licence plate insurance will have an education allowance and this commercial coverage will pay up to 50% more than that amount. - Funeral expenses
This coverage will pay up to an additional 50% in excess of the basic plate insurance coverage. - Income benefits
If you’re involved in an auto accident that causes physical injury or death, this coverage will match your 3rd-party liability (legal responsibility) coverage up to $2 million, for any net income not covered by your plate insurance.
Tort Coverage
- Death benefits
This coverage will pay any extra amounts needed to bring the total benefit up to 50% of the deceased’s net income. It also pays an extra 5% (of the net income) for each dependent child. - Funeral expenses
This coverage will pay up to an additional 50% in excess of the basic plate insurance coverage. - Income benefits
If you’re injured and not able to work, your licence plate insurance will provide a small weekly income benefit to help you out. This coverage will add up to 25% more to your benefit.
Included Coverages
If you have an insurance claim, your new policy will also cover:
14-day coverage
If you’ve insured all your vehicles with SGI CANADA, we’ll provide 14 days of coverage for any new ones you buy. This gives you time to contact us and update your policy.
Non-owned automobile coverage
Coverage for vehicles you don’t own that you’re using as temporary substitutes. This coverage applies if you can’t use your insured vehicle because of breakdown, repair, service, loss, destruction or sale.
Deductible Options
What is a deductible?
Your deductible is the portion of the claim you must pay before your insurance policy kicks in to pay for the rest.
Choose the right deductible
Do you want a deductible that will make an accident more affordable or 1 that will decrease your premium?
Commercial Auto Policy
With a commercial auto policy, you can:
- Lower your deductible
Pay a little extra every month to lower your deductible if you have a claim. - Increase your deductible
Pay a little less every month by choosing a higher deductible. - Waive your deductible
If you have commercial auto insurance, you may not have to pay your deductible in some situations. Ask your broker for details. - Fire, lightning and theft
If you have comprehensive coverage, you won’t have to pay a deductible when your entire vehicle is damaged from 1 or more of these risks. - Add on extra coverages
- Additional commercial liability insurance
If you drive a lot, you’re at a higher risk of being sued. You can increase your liability coverages to provide the protection you and your company needs.
Loss of use coverage
If your commercial vehicle is stolen or damaged, and that damage is covered under your policy, we’ll pay for a rental vehicle, up to the amount of coverage you’ve chosen.
- Your rental will also be insured as a temporary substitute vehicle.
- Choose a coverage amount of up to $12,000, based on the size and type of your unit.
Replacement or repair cost coverage
If you purchased or leased a brand new or demo vehicle from a dealership, you can protect it from the costs of depreciation. The vehicle must:
- be a light vehicle (gross vehicle weight of 1 ton or less)
- be a brand new vehicle or a demonstrator vehicle with less than 10,000 km (that was only used by the dealership for less than 12 months)
Note: We recommend that you keep your original bill of sale.
Non-owned automobile coverage
If you’re in an accident while driving a vehicle you have rented for your business, this coverage will take care of the cost of the damage.
Road hazard glass coverage
Protect your windshield or windows from damage caused by a stone or another object being thrown up from the road or falling from another vehicle. Deductibles start at $100.
This is a general description of the coverages provided. Actual policy conditions govern. For detailed information and prices please contact us. We can put together a combination of coverage options that’s just right for your business.
